The OlympicsThe OlympicsThe Olympics is an international sporting event which is held once every four years. Formerly it was held in the ancient Greece, and it was then relived by French aristocrates Pierre Frèdy and Baron de Coubertin in the end of the 19th century. Just recently in 2004, the Olympics, in its 28th birthday, returned to its land of origin, Greece. Many consider the Olympics as the most prestigious sporting event in the world, and it features the most sporting branches amongst any other international sporting competitions. Being a champion in the Olympics is considered to be the best achievement in the world of sports. The Olympics medals are given in every single Olympics event, with the gold medal being given for the (first) champion, silver for the second runnerup, and bronze for the third. This is actually a tradition that began in 1904. A special edition of the Olympics, the winter Olympics, was begun in year 1924. Formerly it was held at the same year as the summer Olympics, but since 1994, the winter Olympics has been held 2 years after each summer Olympics.
